ACID RAIN

Acid rains are drooling down
from phosphorescent pewter skies
and ululating sirens tell
of monstrous atrocities.

Where city spires glittered once,
curl orchids of cement and steel
where unimagined forces played
worst of nightmare horrors came real.

Glowing pools of liquid rock,
like eyes of some malignant beast,
turn clouds gold and malevolent,
a holocaust without surcease.

And acid rains keep drooling down
from phosphorescent pewter skies
and ululating sirens tell
of monstrous atrocities.

Oceans boil like witch's brew,
monstrous winds torment the land.
Chromosomes bend and break,
things slither now which once would stand.

Semi-eternal rays collide,
death with life's baroque detail.
Centaurs, sphinzes, born again,
only to twist and change and fail.

And acid rains keep drooling down
from phosphorescent pewter skies
and ululating sirens tell
of monstrous atrocities.

Gaiseric,King of Vandals,
would stop and stare with awe profound,
a world pillaged, burned and looted,
a planet raped and hell unbound.

Now when pale phantoms weep
wishing earth green once more,
to comfort and console them,
I tell them that we won the war.

And acid rains keep drooling down
with dreary dull cacophony
and ululating sirens tell
of our splendid victory.
